Deanna Hlywka ND, APND Executive

Deanna Hlywka is a Naturopathic Doctor and Professional Labour Assistant practising in the city of Toronto. She has a special interest in Perinatal Health Care, Labour and Birth Support, and Pediatrics. Deanna has found that the sound principles and gentle therapies of Naturopathic Medicine support families in today’s society. She loves to educate the public and spread the word on Naturopathic Medicine – especially to young families – children respond very well to this medicine!

Supporting women and their families in birth has been a very rewarding experience and one that Deanna feels is a way in which she can support a stronger sense of community in a big city. She works in conjunction with OBs, Midwives, and MDs in home and hospital settings to help women experience birth, as they desire. Deanna and her partner also teach prenatal classes to ensure that families can make informed decisions regarding their childbirth options.

It was at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto where she completed four years of postgraduate study in areas such as Pharmacology, Physical & Clinical Diagnosis, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedics, Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Nutrition, etc. to earn the designation, N.D., Naturopathic Doctor. Previously, Deanna earned an Honours Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo.

Deanna is the President of the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors (APND), and member of the Association of Labour Assistants And Childbirth Educators (ALACE) as well as the Ontario and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

She currently maintains an active lifestyle with her sons and partner, she enjoying fitness, travel, reading and public speaking about her passion for wellness, birth and gentle parenting.

Rishma Walji, ND, PhD

Rishma Walji is a Naturopathic Doctor, Researcher and Speaker. She is passionate about women\’s health including fertility, perinatal health care, and pediatrics. She combines traditional wisdom with modern science in her clinical practice in Milton, Ontario.

Rishma completed her Naturopathic education at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and received extensive training in nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and traditional Chinese medicine. Previously, Rishma earned a Bachelors of Science in Physiology from the McGill University. With a strong interest in scientific research, Rishma also completed her PhD at the University of Toronto in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Now she regularly lectures at universities and for other health professional organizations on many topics in her field. Rishma also sits as a member on an Expert Advisory Committee
to Health Canada that oversees drug monitoring and safety.

Rishma enjoys travelling and has been fortunate to visit over 30 countries for leisure and continuing education or speaking
engagements. She also enjoys staying active, reading and dancing. Rishma feels fortunate to be able to work in a profession that she loves and to help families reach their health goals. Rishma respects all forms of healing and listens to her patients’ perspectives. Because of this, she works well together with other health professionals involved in their circle of care as needed.

Dr Ivy Branin, ND

Dr Ivy Branin, ND is a naturopathic doctor and founder of Simplicity Health Associates with locations in New York City and Linwood, NJ. She uses simple health solutions to help patients with conditions such as depression and anxiety, inflammatory bowel diseases, menstrual irregularities and rheumatoid arthritis, feel great so they can do what they love to do.

Dr Branin received her degree in Naturopathic Medicine form Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biochemical engineering and a minor in French from Rutgers University. She is a member of American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians (NYANP), the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians (PedANP) and is on the executive board of the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors (APND)

When she is not seeing patients, Dr Branin is enjoys yoga, meditation, dance, speaking French and traveling. She is also passionate about kombucha and teaches kombucha brewing.
